Tips to optimize your search requests into Spotify

spotify-user-searchSpotify’s search engine maybe is not as sophisticated and efficient as Google’s engine but some tips could help you to find new songs to listen. Boolean operators and shortcodes are available to help you !

 

You can add these shortcodes and operators into the search field of Spotify :

Search par artist

  • artist:Radiohead – lists all the songs of Radiohead

Search by title’s song

  • track: My Sound – lists all the titles songs containing My Sound

Search by album

  • album:Loveless – lists the songs of the album called Loveless
  • album: “Many Faces Out Of Focus” – you can use quotes when the search contains some spaces

Search by year

  • year:1969
  • year:1989-2013
  • year:1989-2013 NOT year:1993

Accurate search with AND, OR, et NOT operators.

  • Kyuss AND Green – lists all the titles songs containing the keywords ‘Kyuss’ and ‘Green’
  • Zeppelin OR Floyd – lists all the titles songs from groups called ‘Zeppelin’ or ‘Floyd’
  • Metallica NOT Anger – lists all the titles songs from Metallica except with the keyword ‘Anger’

You can replace AND ou NOT by signs (+) or (-).

Others available shortcode

genre: lists all the songs by genre. Have a look to the list of the genres here, you can try genre:blues, genre: “rock and roll”.
label: lists all the songs of a label.
isrc: search the song ID regarding the International Standard Recording Code.
upc: search the song ID regarding the Universal Product Code.
tag:new this standalone shortcode lists the recents songs played into Spotify.
